PRESS RELEASE FROM FREEDOM NOVA SCOTIA*MAY 15 EVENT LISTING IS CANCELLED UNDER DURESS*PUBLIC NOTICE: This is a public notice to the freedom community of over 1,000 supporters in full truth and transparency. Please share this widely. This is what real democracy looks like: everyone is privy to the information that is available and everyone is free to form their own opinions and choose the actions they want to take for themselves. CANCELLED: The Facebook Event Listing for a local freedom movement on May 15 is cancelled, effective immediately. This rally was only one of the hundreds of worldwide freedom rallies, with millions participating. Every human being is free to choose how and where to express their constitutional and universal human rights and fundamental freedoms. FACT: Freedom Nova Scotia is a movement of the people, not an organization or a corporate body. A movement is not owned or directed by anyone and it has no leaders and no organizers. It is not funded by anyone, (any corporation or organization) and it is not affiliated with any political party. RIGHTS: Canadians have a right to freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association in Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in The Constitution Act of Canada, 1982 and Part 1 of the Canadian Bill of Rights. These rights do not go away just because of a provincial “health emergency”. All Provincial Public Health Acts and “Orders” are subject to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. All levels of government, as well as law enforcement agencies in this country, are aware of this violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and will be held accountable. THREATS: In the past week, the freedom community and the freedom movement have received hundreds of serious threats to cause harm from Nova Scotians – abusive language, verbal attacks, insults and cyber-bullying (uttering threats, intimidation and inciting hatred) – directed at supporters of the movement. This violates Sections 318 and 319 of the Criminal Code of Canada outlining Hate Propaganda. It is a criminal offence carrying a term of imprisonment of 2-5 years for advocating genocide, publicly inciting hatred, and the willful promotion of hatred against an “identifiable group”. INFILTRATION: Furthermore, Freedom Nova Scotia received a tip from a trusted source informing the movement that there is a paid organized group planning to “infiltrate” any peaceful assembly on May 15, to cause unnecessary disruption and create a common nuisance, therefore, violating the Criminal Code. Other warnings were received that “infiltrators” would be mingling with participants in an attempt to collect names and social media handles, with the intention of smearing individuals for exercising their right to peaceful assembly. This was most concerning for the safety of everyone. The Halifax Regional Police Department (HRPD) was notified immediately. POLICE: The Halifax Regional Police Department (HRPD) has issued a formal public statement indicating that they will “use all measures at our disposal” and a warning that anyone not physically distancing or ‘out of their county’ will be fined or at risk of being fined. Given the HRPD’s publicly stated position, the freedom community is not assured freedom to peacefully protest nor protection from intimidation on the day of the peaceful assembly. Halifax Regional Police MEDIA: The media did not attend the May 1 Canada-wide freedom demonstration. They have nothing to say about the event that would be accurate or reliable. They have built their stories on second-hand photos, hearsay, hand-picked social media tweets and one-sided opinions from their own sources. Propaganda is not journalism: CTV Atlantic News CBC Nova Scotia Global Halifax The Chronicle Herald SaltWire.com The Coast, Halifax’s Weekly HalifaxToday.ca Urban Halifax Waterfront Media Hfx 105.9 Seaside-FM Virgin Radio Halifax CONCLUSION: Given all of the threats outlined above, this Public Notice remains faithful to the freedom community’s commitment to truth and transparency, while also reiterating our human rights and freedoms as Canadians and as citizens of the world taking part in the largest united freedom rally in our history. This is what real democracy looks like: everyone is privy to the information that is available and everyone is free to form their own opinions and choose the actions they want to take for themselves.
